Stephen Colbert made the announcement on "The Late Show" Tuesday night, Nov. 12, with "The Quiet Place" star dropping in to console the late-night host for being skipped over for the honor once again.
Krasinski told People that he felt gobsmacked by the honor.
“Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he told the magazine. “Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
Krasinski is best known for his role as Jim Halpert on "The Office." He starred in the series set in Scranton, Pennsylvania, for nine seasons.
Fans of Krasinksi have lobbied for him to earn the title of "Sexiest Man Alive" in the past. So much so that his wife, fellow actor Emily Blunt, has joked that if it ever happened, she would wallpaper their Brooklyn, New York, home with the cover of the magazine, People note
"My children will love that," he replied. "It won’t be weird at all."
Krasinki joins fellow Massachusetts hunks Chris Evan and Ben Affleck who received their crowns in 2022 and 2002, respectively.
